The pharoah I am doing a report on is King Menes.King Menes was a great pharaoh.In the next 5 pharagraphs I will tell you why.














Menes was the first pharaoh of Egypt.Menes ruled from 3407-.3346B.C.He overthrew the king of Upper Egypt and unified Lower Egypt and UpperEgypt.Hemade Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt into one kingdom.Besides unifying Egypt Menes also found the city of Crocpodopolis.He also found Memphis which was made into the capitol of Egypt.











Menes made Memphis the capitol of Egypt because it would be easy to protect the city from invading armies and because it would allow him to control the river delta and trade with Sinai and Canaan.During his reign Menes expanded the kingdom of Egypt by attacking the Nubians and taking over thier land.Menes had two wives ,Queen Berenib and Neithotep.Niethotep was the mother of Menes only son Djer.After Menes died his wife Neithotep became pharaoh until Djer was old enough to rule.










Menes was born 3100 B.C.Menes died when he was 63 years old.He was beleived to be killed by wild dogs.Others think that he was killed by crocodiles,or hippopotamus.Menes tomb is located in Saqqara which is a necropolis of Memphis.





King Menes is the one who united the red crown white.He is known as King Narmer or Meni. Menes is the one who found the first dynasty. After uniting Lower Egypt and Upper Egypt Menes combined the two crowns andmade the double crown. Menes actually had four diffrent names.They were Scorpion,Narmer,Meni,and Menes.
